We are staying out late in Ahangama but booked a 7 AM yoga class at a jungle shala inland. Are the dirt roads safe to navigate in a tuk tuk that early while exhausted.

The inland dirt roads in Ahangama (like towards Gitano or other jungle villas) are very narrow, potholed, and often frequented by roaming peacocks and dogs early in the morning. If you are sleep-deprived and hungover, do not drive yourself. Hire a local tuk-tuk for 800 LKR. You can relax, and they know every bump in those jungle tracks.

Also, Google Maps frequently routes you down footpaths inland. Locals know the actual vehicle-accessible routes.

Make sure your headlights work well. At 6:30 AM under the jungle canopy, it is still incredibly dark.

I drove a rental into a ditch doing exactly this. The morning mist makes the dirt roads slick. Just pay a local.
