I want to fly my drone to capture the full height of Diyaluma Falls. Are there strict rules against this or is it free to fly.

Because Diyaluma is relatively remote, police presence is minimal compared to Ravana Falls. However, legally, you still need CAA clearance for any drone flight in Sri Lanka. If you fly respectfully, keep away from other hikers at the upper pools, and do not buzz the eco-lodges nearby, you are unlikely to be bothered. But the wind drafts are dangerous.

I will launch from the upper pools to avoid the heavy mist at the bottom.

Watch out for eagles. They nest in the high trees around the falls and will attack drones.

The sheer height of it (220m) means you will lose line of sight quickly if you fly from the bottom. Be careful.

The mist from the waterfall is also intense. If you fly too close, the water droplets will fry your drone motors.
