Ecstatic dance events and raw vegan cafes in Hiriketiya
5 Answers from travellers
Hiriketiya is the wellness hub of the south! Dots Bay House and Salty Pelicans often host ecstatic dance sessions and cacao ceremonies, especially around the full moon. The community here is very focused on conscious partying. For raw vegan food, you must check out Maha Cafe or the smoothie bowls at Salt House. They use locally sourced tropical fruits and coconut milk bases.
The cacao ceremonies usually start at sunset. Make sure you drink plenty of water because pure ceremonial cacao is a very strong diuretic.
Verse Collective nearby in Dikwella also does amazing vegan food. Their vegan mushroom burger is phenomenal after a long surf or dance session.
The ecstatic dance events here usually have a strict no-alcohol, no-shoes, no-talking-on-the-dancefloor policy. It is a completely different vibe from the heavy techno clubs in Ahangama.
If you get tired of vegan food, there are local aunties making fresh fish roti right on the beach which is cheap and delicious.
