No, this is a scam. Rogue tea factories collude with drivers to trap tourists. Genuine, historic estates like Damro, Pedro, or Bluefield offer professional, 30-minute educational tours for a tiny fee (a few hundred rupees) and do not pressure you to buy anything. Refuse to buy the overpriced tea and tell your driver you want to go to a named, reputable factory.

Damro was amazing and totally free to walk around. Highly recommend it.

If you just want good tea to take home, buy Dilmah from a local supermarket. It is the same quality for 10% of the price.
