Getting to Kadugannawa from Colombo by train is incredibly easy and highly scenic. You simply board any train heading towards Kandy or Badulla from the Colombo Fort railway station.

Almost every single train on that main upcountry line stops directly at the Kadugannawa station, which is located right at the top of the mountain pass. The journey typically takes about two and a half hours.

It is highly recommended to book a reserved second class ticket in advance for a comfortable seat, and the station itself is a beautiful, historic colonial building right next to the railway museum.
