Negombo is famously known as Little Rome due to its massive Catholic population. While St Sebastians is the most famous, you must visit St Marys Church located right in the town center. It features an incredibly stunning painted ceiling that took a local artist years to complete.

Another incredible hidden gem is the small, ancient church of Our Lady of Snows in Pitipana, slightly north of Negombo. It is completely free of tourist crowds and offers a deeply peaceful, historical atmosphere.
