How dangerous are the street dogs?
There are so many street dogs everywhere. Are they aggressive? Is Rabies a massive risk if I try to pet them?

Most street dogs (we call them Rovers or strays) are incredibly docile, lazy, and just want to sleep in the shade. However, Rabies IS present in the country. Rule of thumb: Do not pet them. If one is acting aggressively or strangely, walk away confidently. Do not run.
If you do get bitten or even scratched deeply, you MUST go to a government hospital immediately for post-exposure rabies shots. They are free and very accustomed to administering them.
The only time they get annoying is at night on the beaches when they form packs and bark at each other. Just carry a flashlight when walking on the beach at night.
My kids wanted to pet all of them. I had to be very strict. It's sad but better safe than sorry.
