I do not want to be overcharged for a King Coconut. What is the normal local price.

A fresh Thambili usually costs between 150 and 250 Sri Lankan Rupees, depending on the exact location. In busy tourist areas or directly on the beach, expect to pay the higher end of that scale.

When you finish drinking the water inside, hand the empty shell back to the vendor. They will expertly slice it open and fashion a small spoon from the husk so you can scoop out the soft, sweet jelly inside for free.

If a vendor demands 500 Rupees or more for a single coconut, they are absolutely scamming you. Simply smile, say no, and walk to the next vendor down the street.
