The Dehiwala Zoological Gardens are quite expansive and feature steep, hilly walking paths. To see all the animal enclosures, the botanical gardens, and the aquarium comfortably without rushing, you should allocate at least three to four hours.

If you are traveling with young children, dedicating an entire afternoon is a great idea. There are plenty of shaded benches and grassy areas to take frequent rest breaks from walking in the tropical humidity.
