How should I handle wildlife encounters outside national parks (elephants on roads, etc.)?
I've heard elephants sometimes appear on roads. What should I do if I encounter wildlife outside parks?

Elephants and other wildlife can appear on roads, especially in areas near parks or during certain seasons. If you encounter elephants on the road, stay in your vehicle, keep a safe distance, and wait for them to move. Do not honk, flash lights, or try to drive through — elephants can be unpredictable and dangerous when stressed. If you're on foot or in a tuk-tuk, move away calmly and find shelter. Local drivers are usually experienced with these situations and know how to handle them. In areas where wildlife is common on roads, drive slowly and be alert, especially at dawn, dusk, and night. Never approach or feed wildlife outside of proper safari settings.
