Taking the train to Dehiwala Zoo is incredibly easy and cheap. Simply catch any southbound coastal train departing from the Colombo Fort railway station and get off at the Dehiwala station.

The train ride takes roughly 20 minutes. Once you exit the Dehiwala station, the zoo entrance is only about a 15 minute walk inland. Alternatively, you can hop in a tuk tuk outside the station for a very quick three minute ride.
