It is incredibly easy to organize a shared jeep. Simply show up at the main Udawalawe park gate around 5:45 AM before it opens. You will see dozens of backpackers waiting around specifically looking to split the cost of a six seater jeep.

Alternatively, just tell the owner of your guesthouse the night before that you want to share a ride. They communicate with all the local drivers and other guesthouses and will effortlessly combine solo travelers into one vehicle for the morning safari.
