Nil Diya Pokuna is a spectacular underground cave network. However, it is not recommended to visit alone. You absolutely must hire a specialized local guide from Ella town to navigate the steep, dark descent safely.
Swimming in the pond is allowed, but the water is pitch black below the surface. Make sure your guide carries extra flashlights and ropes for safety.
The entrance is hidden in a rubber estate near Ella. The cave gets very dark and slippery, so bring a strong headlamp and wear proper hiking shoes. The glowing blue water at the bottom is breathtaking.
