How to visit the secret caves around Ella valley.
3 Answers from travellers
Besides the popular Ravana Cave, you absolutely must visit the Bogoda Cave Temple. It is a bit of a drive from Ella, but it features a fascinating natural cave complex steeped in local myths and ancient Buddhist paintings.
The site also features the Bogoda Wooden Bridge, which is the oldest surviving wooden bridge in Sri Lanka, built entirely without nails. It is an architectural marvel hidden in the jungle.
If you want serious adventure caving, hire a specialist guide to take you into the Nil Diya Pokuna underground network. It involves steep rappelling into a massive cavern containing a pristine blue underground lake.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
