Is Ambuluwawa Tower incredibly scary/dangerous?

If you are afraid of heights, do not go to the very top. The stairs get narrower the higher you climb, until it is only wide enough for one person. It is very exposed and the wind howls up there. But the views from halfway up are still amazing.

The scariest part is when someone is coming down while you are going up, and you have to squeeze past each other on a 2-foot wide ledge over a massive drop! It is thrilling but definitely not for the faint of heart.

You don't have to walk up the mountain to the base of the tower. Hire a tuk-tuk at the gate to drive you up the steep road, then just climb the tower. Saves a lot of energy.
