Is anything else shutting a road tonight besides the Kandy loop - strike, funeral, protest
Trying to get a van from Colombo to Negombo at 9. News is a soup: PHI token strike, Nanda Malini remains in Nugegoda, a monk's funeral in Dehiwala this evening, 22A petitions, Namal at FCID. Is any of that an actual road close or is Kandy the only city that taped itself shut.

Kandy is the structured close. Nugegoda / Nawala will be slower near the Sangeetha Ashramaya while people pay respects (until Sat 3.30, then Borella Sat 5pm). Dehiwala had a funeral this evening - local, not an island shutdown. PHI strike is inspectors reporting sick, not a hartal. 22A is in court, not on Galle Road. Drive normally, leave slack for rain.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
