Is it safe to have camera equipment out during safaris and what precautions should I take?
I want to photograph wildlife from safari vehicles. How do I protect my gear and stay safe?

Camera gear is generally safe during safaris if you keep it secure and don't lean out of the vehicle. Use a camera strap and keep your bag or equipment between your feet or on your lap when not shooting. Sudden movements or loud noises can startle animals, so be mindful. Guides will position the vehicle for good views while keeping safety in mind. Dust can be an issue, so bring lens cloths and consider a protective cover for your camera when not in use. Flash is often restricted near wildlife. Reputable operators understand photographers' needs and will work with you. Never stand up or lean far out of the vehicle, even for a better shot. Safety always comes first.
Will keep my gear secure and follow the guide's positioning. Safety first, photos second. Good advice.
