Swimming directly in the massive Kotmale reservoir or the main deep river channels is strictly prohibited and extremely dangerous due to sudden depth changes and powerful, hidden undercurrents caused by the dam operations.

If you want to swim, you must ask a local guide or your guesthouse owner to point out the safe, shallow tributary streams or the small rock pools at the base of the nearby waterfalls, well away from the main dam infrastructure.
