I am staying in Colombo and want to see the sunset at the new beach. Do I need to pay an entrance fee or book in advance.

Entrance to the public beach area at Port City Colombo is currently free for pedestrians. You do not need to book in advance. There are several food trucks and a walking track that are very popular for sunsets. If you are bringing a vehicle, there is a small parking fee, but the beach access itself remains open to all tourists and locals.
