I read about a floating market near Pettah in Colombo. Is it actually worth visiting and what can tourists do or buy there during a short stop.

The Pettah Floating Market is a fairly modern attraction built along the Beira Lake near the bustling Pettah district. It features colorful boats and waterfront shops selling clothing, accessories, snacks, and souvenirs in a pleasant breezy environment. While not a traditional floating market like those in Thailand it offers a refreshing escape from the chaos of central Pettah and makes a nice quick stop during your shopping tour.

Combine your floating market visit with a walk to the nearby Khan Clock Tower, the historic Wolvendaal Church, and the colorful Jami Ul Alfar red mosque all within walking distance. The whole Pettah area can comfortably be explored on foot in about three hours. Wear comfortable shoes as the streets get crowded and uneven in places.
