Do we need to bring all our cash from the airport or are there reliable cash machines.

Yes Arugam Bay has developed significantly and now has several highly reliable ATMs located right on the main tourist strip operated by major national banks like Commercial Bank and Bank of Ceylon. They readily accept international Visa and Mastercards.

However during the massive peak summer season these machines can occasionally run completely out of cash on the weekends. It is highly recommended to withdraw a large chunk of rupees when you arrive in town rather than relying on hitting the ATM every single day.
