No, the fuel crisis in Sri Lanka has completely ended. The massive queues that made international news a few years ago are entirely gone. Fuel stations across the entire island are fully stocked with both petrol and diesel.

It is completely safe to rent a car or a tuk tuk for a self drive holiday right now. You can pull into any gas station, fill up your tank immediately, and drive off without waiting in line.
