I read terrible reviews about 50 jeeps surrounding one leopard at Yala. Is Wilpattu genuinely a better experience?

Yala has the highest density of leopards, so your chance of a sighting is highest there, but yes, the "jeep jams" are very real and stressful. Wilpattu is much larger, heavily forested, and you might not see another jeep for hours. If you want a pristine wilderness experience, choose Wilpattu. If you absolutely MUST tick a leopard off a list, brave Yala.

I chose Wilpattu. We didn't see a leopard, but the serenity of the jungle lakes, seeing bears, elephants, and eagles without engine noise was perfect.
