Do NOT swim at the base of Laxapana. There is a hydroelectric dam upstream that occasionally releases water without warning, causing sudden, deadly flash floods. Admire it from the safety of the rocks. For accommodation, there are lovely small homestays in Maskeliya and Norton Bridge run by retired tea estate workers that offer incredible views of Adams Peak.

Laxapana is huge and the mist it generates will soak your camera gear in seconds. Bring a dry bag.

The drive through the Norton Bridge area to get to the falls is one of the greenest, most scenic routes in the hill country.
