I have a single full day in Colombo before flying out Is the Lotus Tower worth the foreigner ticket and what else can I realistically fit into one relaxed day in the city

The Lotus Tower is the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia and the foreigner ticket runs around 20 USD for the observation deck; the city-and-ocean view is good, best near sunset. For one relaxed day: morning at the Gangaramaya Temple and a stroll around Beira Lake, lunch of crab or rice and curry, afternoon wander through the Pettah markets or the colonial-era Fort district, then Galle Face Green at sunset for street food (isso wade, kottu) by the sea. Cap it with the tower at dusk if time allows.

Galle Face Green at sunset is the real highlight, free, lively, kites flying and amazing cheap street food. Do that even if you skip the tower.

Perfect compact day. Temple, Pettah, Galle Face sunset, tower at dusk. Gracias!
