Safe natural pools or cold water swimming spots that aren't crowded?
I enjoy cold water swimming. Any natural pools or river spots that are safe and not overrun with tourists?

There are some beautiful natural pools in the hill country and near waterfalls, but safety varies with water levels and currents. Many locals know good spots, but they can be dangerous after rain. Some guesthouses near rivers have safe access points. The famous pools at places like Diyaluma or Dunhinda have viewing platforms but swimming is often restricted or risky. Ask locally and never swim alone in unfamiliar spots. Some tea estate areas have quiet stream pools that workers use, but you'd need a local guide to find them respectfully.
We found a quiet spot near Ella that locals use. It was cold and refreshing but we checked the depth and current first with help from our guesthouse.
