We want to see wild turtles with our kids. Which beach is safer for children and better for spotting turtles near the shore?

Dalawella (Wijaya Beach) is perfect for kids. There is a natural reef that creates a shallow, calm lagoon. Massive turtles swim right into waist-deep water to eat the seaweed. You barely even need to snorkel.

Polhena is also great, but Dalawella is much closer if you are staying near Unawatuna or Galle. Please make sure the kids don't try to touch or ride the turtles!

Go early in the morning before 9 AM. The water is clearer and there are fewer tourists crowding the poor turtles.
