I love street photography. How should I approach taking photos of people, markets, and daily life respectfully?

Most Sri Lankans are happy to be photographed if you ask first and show them the photo afterwards. A smile and 'photo ok?' goes a long way. In busy markets or festivals it's more relaxed. Be sensitive around religious sites and ceremonies - some people don't want photos during worship. Children often love it, but check with parents. Avoid taking photos of people in vulnerable situations or who clearly don't want it. Offering to send photos via WhatsApp is appreciated.

Building a quick rapport first makes better photos anyway. People relax and you get more natural shots. Rushing in with a big camera can make people uncomfortable.

Ask first + show the photo approach noted. Will do that.
