I read the latest news that arrivals to Sri Lanka fell over 20 percent recently because of regional issues and pricey flights Does fewer tourists mean cheaper prices and emptier sites or is it a warning sign I am missing

The dip earlier this year was driven by external factors, mainly higher airfares and regional geopolitical disruption to flight routes, not by anything unsafe inside Sri Lanka. For a visitor that actually translates into upside right now: more availability at good guesthouses, easier last-minute bookings, less jeep crowding at parks, and operators keen to give deals. The free ETA was introduced specifically to bring people back. If you can find a reasonable flight, it is honestly a sweet spot to come.

From the host side, yes, we have more space and are happy to negotiate longer-stay rates. The experience for guests right now is relaxed and uncrowded.

That settles it. Booking flights this week. Grazie mille.

Sigiriya and the train were noticeably less packed than the photos online suggested. Felt like a bit of a gift, honestly.
