Family planner and mother so the real baby practicalities Supplies good news nappies are widely available supermarkets and pharmacies stock international and regional brands in towns and cities formula international brands are available in supermarkets and pharmacies in cities and larger towns and baby food jars and cereals too BUT in small remote villages stock thins so buy a buffer in cities and do not rely on a tiny town for your specific brand bring a small reserve of anything critical Heat for a baby the real daily management dress the baby in light cotton keep out of the midday sun entirely shade hats and baby safe sun protection hydrate (more feeds) and choose accommodation with AC for sleep the heat is the constant factor pace the days around it mornings and late afternoons out midday cool and resting Water and food for weaning be careful use bottled or properly boiled and cooled water for formula and drinking the fresh fruit (banana papaya) is great peeled the freshly cooked plain rice and dhal is gentle and perfect weaning food just the usual hot fresh and clean rules stricter for a baby Cots high chairs car seats variable many hotels and family guesthouses provide cots ASK ahead high chairs less reliable at smaller places car seats are the big gap most cars and drivers do NOT come with them and they are not the norm here if you want one bring your own or confirm the operator can provide one this is the thing to sort in advance Safari and long drives the bouncy jeep is hard with an infant a gentle park or short safari and break the long drives keep them short carry snacks and plan around naps Mosquito protection for an infant crucial baby safe repellent (check the age guidance) a mosquito net over the cot or pram long light layers at dawn and dusk and AC or screened rooms the dengue protection from the health threads matters doubly for a baby The practical verdict it is very doable Sri Lankans ADORE babies and you will get warmth and help everywhere buy supplies in cities sort a car seat in advance manage the heat and mosquitoes diligently keep drives short and the family welcome here makes baby travel genuinely lovely

The mosquito net over the cot or pram is the detail an infant cannot use repellent freely so the physical barrier plus AC is the protection worth packing the travel net
