8.47, just got a driver to even look at us two streets back. He wants to "save us" and drive to Colombo tonight because "tomorrow Perahera cancelled, mourning, rain, police." Official site still says 5th Kumbal 6.28pm Saturday. Is there a notice we missed in the last 20 minutes or is this a fare.

Rumour. sridaladamaligawa.lk and kandyesalaperahera.com/dates2026 still list 5th Kumbal Saturday 22, 6:28 PM. Ada Derana posted tonight's 4th on the streets around 8.15. Three days of national mourning did not pull the Perahera - it has been running since the 18th. There is no 8.40 cancellation bulletin on Ada Derana, Newsfirst, or Newswire.

This is the "I will take you to Colombo now" script. If you want Colombo, that is a different conversation with a meter or PickMe from Gopallawa once the cones allow. Do not let a cancellation story set the price.
