Tuk to Peradeniya at 10.30 to sleep there vs a 7am gardens tuk from the lake
Friend in Peradeniya still has a spare bed. We already know the Colombo-side corridor moved (that was 9.20). We are not asking if tape is down. We are asking the clock: tuk now at 10.30 while apps look ordinary, sleep there, gardens when gates open - or keep the lake room, 7am tuk for the gardens, back for 6.28. Two different tuks.

Sleeping in Peradeniya means you start Saturday on the Colombo side. Gardens then back into town for 6:28 is a midday reverse through whatever Saturday plan they run. If 6:28 is the point of the trip, keep the lake room and do gardens as a morning out-and-back, not an overnight move. If the gardens are the trip, go now and skip pretending you will be on a kerb at dusk.
A 22:30 tuk is a tired-driver problem (1,749). A 07:00 gardens tuk is a tourist product. Old Peradeniya Road was a published corridor - not a promise it is empty at 22:30 or at 07:00.
We moved overnight, hated the midday come-back, missed the first hour of a Kumbal. Keep the lake bed if 6.28 matters.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
