Legally it is private property, but there is a massive cultural tolerance for tourists walking on the established dirt tractor paths. The strict rule is: NEVER walk directly through the tea bushes themselves, as this damages the valuable crops. Stick to the dirt zigzag road leading to Lipton Seat. You only pay a small fee at the very top viewpoint.

Do not pick the tea leaves as a souvenir. It is considered theft.

If you see tea pluckers, smile and ask "Ok?" pointing to the path. They are usually very friendly.
