The Halpewatte Tea Factory is the best choice near Ella. They have a dedicated tasting room where you can learn the difference between BOP, Pekoe, and Silver Tips. The professional tasters explain how the elevation and soil affect the flavor. The view from their balcony over the valley is also one of the best in the region. It is about a fifteen minute drive from Ella town.
