Where to find the best Ambul Thiyal (Sour Fish Curry)?
I am obsessed with trying authentic regional food. Where is the absolute best place in the country to eat traditional black sour fish curry?

Ambul Thiyal is a Southern specialty, specifically from the Ambalangoda and Galle areas. Do not order it in Colombo hotels. Find a small, local "Rice and Curry" buffet spot in Galle or Matara near the fish markets. They use the freshest tuna and the proper amount of Goraka (the sour fruit paste).
If you are in Colombo, go to "Upali's by Nawaloka". It is a slightly upscale local restaurant, but their Ambul Thiyal recipe is completely authentic and absolutely delicious.
