Why is there a special traffic plan in Colombo on April 19 and 20?

The Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan is visiting Sri Lanka from April 19 to 20, 2026. A motorcade will travel from the airport via the Katunayake Expressway and Baseline Road to the Taj Samudra Hotel this morning. Expect intermittent traffic restrictions near Borella, Nelum Pokuna, and Galle Face. Heavy vehicles are banned on these routes two hours before the motorcade movement.
