Are there entrance fees for the Port City Beach in Colombo?
2 Answers from travellers
Entrance to the Port City Beach area is currently free for pedestrians. There are several food trucks and a couple of permanent cafes offering everything from local short eats to burgers. The best time to visit is around 5:30 PM to enjoy the breeze and the sunset. Please note that swimming is only allowed in designated zones monitored by lifeguards.
Parking can be a bit of a walk from the beach entrance, so if you are taking a PickMe or Uber, ask them to drop you at the main public gallery gate for shorter walking distance.

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
