Unlike the incredibly dense hot humid lowland jungles of Sinharaja the high altitude climate around Nuwara Eliya is significantly cooler and features vastly different vegetation. While a stray leech is technically possible after a massive severe rainstorm they are incredibly exceedingly rare.

The short wide paths leading to major massive waterfalls like Ramboda or St Clairs are highly trafficked and generally completely clear. You absolutely do not need to wear specialized thick leech socks for these specific casual short waterfall hikes.
