We want to hike from Dambatenne to Lipton Seat. Are we allowed to walk freely through the tea estates.

You are allowed to walk on the established paved and dirt tractor roads that wind through the estates. You must NEVER walk directly through the tea bushes themselves, as it damages the crops. The path to Lipton Seat is a clear zigzag road. It is a stunning 7km hike. Just step aside for the tuk-tuks ferrying people up.

Do not take photos of the tea pluckers without asking them first. A polite nod goes a long way.

Start your hike by 5 AM. The mist rolls in by 9 AM and completely blocks the view from the top.
