Most tourist areas have ATMs that work fine with international cards. Sometimes smaller towns run low on cash on weekends but usually okay. Bring some USD or euros as backup just in case, easy to exchange. Cards work in most hotels and restaurants now too.

Yeah ATMs are generally fine in Galle, Unawatuna etc. Have some cash for tuk tuks and small places. No big issues lately.
