We are heading up north near the Chundikulam bird sanctuary. Are there homestays that will cook authentic, spicy Jaffna lagoon crab curry for us.

Yes! The area near Chundikulam and Elephant Pass has incredible local fishing communities. Since it is remote, finding a homestay online is tough, but local guides can arrange it. The families will catch the crab from the lagoon that day and cook it with intense northern spices (lots of roasted chili, fennel, and moringa leaves). You must request it a day in advance.

Be prepared to eat with your hands and get very messy. Jaffna crab curry is an experience, not just a meal.
