Some beach clubs blast music all night. Are they disturbing turtles, and is the guy asking for turtle rescue donations outside the club running a scam.

Yes, the loud bass and bright laser lights severely disorient nesting turtles. And the guy asking for donations outside clubs is 100% a scammer. Legitimate hatcheries do not solicit drunk tourists at 2 AM.

I saw that guy! He had a fake laminated badge. I just walked past him into the club.

Reputable clubs in Mirissa actually turn their beach-facing lights off during hatching season to comply with local guidelines.

Never give cash to street charity collectors in nightlife areas. It goes straight to the local mafia.

The bass travels through the sand and scares the turtles away before they even lay eggs.

I confronted one of these fake charity guys and he immediately ran away.

If you want to donate, visit the official Rekawa turtle watch site physically during the day.
