Mirissa whale watching — how safe is it and what's the best time of year?
I want to do a whale watching tour from Mirissa. How safe are the boats and when is the best season?

Whale watching season in Mirissa is roughly November to April, with peak sightings December to March. Boats are regulated and most operators follow safety guidelines, but choose reputable companies with good reviews and proper life jackets. Seas can be rough, so if you get seasick easily, take precautions. Tours usually last 3-5 hours. Blue whales and sperm whales are commonly seen. It's generally safe when done with established operators, but always check weather conditions on the day. Some boats are more stable than others — ask about boat size and type when booking.
Went in February and saw several whales. Boat was okay but it got bouncy. Choose a bigger boat if you're worried about motion sickness.
