While Nallur Kandaswamy is the most famous, the Sri Naga Viharaya is a beautiful, highly historical site located right in the city center. However, for a truly spectacular and ancient Hindu temple experience, you should hire a tuk tuk to visit the Naguleswaram Kovil. Although it is a short drive away near Keerimalai, its profound historical significance and coastal setting make it the absolute best temple to see after exploring the Fort.
