Where do locals buy their spices and crafts. We want to avoid the main tourist shops.

To avoid the overpriced tourist shops, head straight to the Kandy Municipal Central Market. It is a massive, bustling building where locals buy fresh spices, jaggery, and tea directly from merchants.

For authentic handicrafts, visit the Kandyan Art Association and Cultural Centre near the lake. They offer genuine, locally made wood carvings and brasswork at very fair, fixed prices.
