Should we climb at six in the morning or wait until late afternoon to beat the tour buses.

To completely avoid the massive tour bus crowds and the brutal midday heat, you must arrive at the ticket office exactly when it opens at 6:30 AM. You will have the staircase almost entirely to yourself.

Visiting late in the afternoon, around 3:30 PM, is the second best option. The large tour groups have already left for dinner, and you get the added bonus of watching a spectacular sunset from the summit.
