I want to see nocturnal primates. Is the Knuckles range a good spot for this and how do I find a guide who knows how to spot them.

Yes, the Grey Slender Loris is frequently spotted in the lower montane forests of the Knuckles range. You must hire a guide with a red light torch to avoid damaging their sensitive eyes. These walks usually start around 7:00 PM. Look for guides based in the Pitawala Pathana area as they are very experienced with nocturnal biodiversity. You might also spot civets and various owl species during the same trek.

Bring a light rain jacket even for night walks as the mist in Knuckles can be very cold and damp after sunset. Make sure your guide is licensed and respects the animals by keeping a safe distance.
