I am exploring the north western coast. Is the fort still under naval control or can we walk through the historical ramparts.

The Kalpitiya Dutch Fort is currently within a naval base. However, tourists are allowed to visit during daytime hours by presenting a passport or ID at the gate. It is remarkably well preserved compared to the Galle Fort because it has not been commercialized. The yellow Dutch bricks and the VOC monogram over the entrance are still visible.
