Catch of the day seafood buffets in Mirissa, are they worth it.

The massive seafood displays on Mirissa beach are iconic but you must be incredibly cautious. It is not an all you can eat buffet. You personally select a specific whole fish or crab from the ice display they weigh it and grill it specifically for you.
To ensure maximum safety only eat at restaurants where the display is heavily packed with ice and the fish eyes look perfectly clear. Avoid places where the fish has been sitting exposed to the warm evening air for hours.
While the food is usually delicious you must absolutely negotiate the final total price covering preparation and side dishes before they take the fish away to the kitchen to avoid a massive surprise bill.
