Cinnamon Air to Trinco - are there actually seats or is the 8 hour van the only honest plan
Two of us in Colombo, want the east before we fly out. Website showed a 10:30 BIA-Trinco and something to Batticaloa / Pasikudah. Last-minute in Perahera week feels like a trap. FitsAir looks like charters. Is the summer east-coast hop still a real daily plane.

The plane is real in summer. The plane is also 12-14 seats and Perahera week plus August east-coast demand means you do not see if we feel like it on Saturday night. Book on cinnamonair.com now or take a van at 6am (Colombo-Trinco is a 6-8 hour road day, not 3). FitsAir is the other airline people use for Jaffna / some east charters - different airport habits (sometimes Ratmalana). Read the ticket. Treat fares as check-the-site, not a blog number.
We bought a Tuesday 10:30 Trinco hop two days out in July, it went. I would not count on a walk-up. The time save is the whole point - you skip the Perahera-weekend road.
If the flight cancels for weather, have a van number. Seaplane days can shuffle. Be at BIA early; it is a proper domestic check-in, not a taxi.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
